Over a hundred years ago, the human race left the war with the most lucrative land. A river was built to keep the other species out, leaving a single bridge protected by an iron gate. For many years, it was said the gate was there to keep the humans safe, but without resources being shared outside of the capital, it feels like a prison.
Skode Village is to the south of the country—just a hole in the wall, really. It’s home to eighty-one people who struggle to make ends meet and rely on each other to survive. The Cronnis Kingdom is no help when we need food or supplies. They’re certainly no help when it comes to medicine. Which is why, on my nineteenth birthday, I make the same decision my brother made. With nothing but a duffle bag, I leave home to find the medicine for my mother, and hopefully, find my brother as well.
With demons, witches, and elves at every turn, every step beyond the gate is more terrifying than the last. Every person I meet has a different story. Every adventure reveals another piece of history I was never taught. And every new town I visit tells a different version of the war.
Every truth I hear unravels a lie in the Cronnis Kingdom.
